Summarized history of Smithworks SW modules for HubSpot marketers and partners. Each dated row highlights behavior or settings that may affect your pages. Migration tips (highlighted rows) describe upgrades where you may need to re-open the module, move content into new fields, or republish—written for people working in HubSpot, not for our internal repositories.
Shows only sections whose headings and entries contain your terms (runs in the browser).
SW Blog Cards
— Link Colors labels aligned to Theme Defaults (auto), On Dark Background, On Light Background across the Link Colors standard rollout (with 16 other modules).
— Blog Listing Hero alignment (post start, HubSpot posts-per-page formula), pagination / all-posts notes, Post start first page only behavior.
— Content Colors, Content Area Settings, Enable Card as Link, Read More link behavior.
Alias registry: not listed.
SW Blog Listing Hero
— Blog All detection, optional show on blog tag, template wiring; slug-as-title and path fallbacks for titles.
— SW Blog Listing now places this module by default (numbered pages and optional “All posts” link). Older themes may still use the legacy custom pager; ask your developer to align with master if you rely on Smithworks blog templates.
Listing pager for blog index pages. Contact Smithworks if you need a full dated change list for a customized blog stack.
SW Blog Post Body
— Initial documentation; max width 1400px (code-level, not a module field).
SW Blog Post Hero
— Content Colors, Post Meta title block styling, link context options.
— Max width 1800px documented as hardcoded.
SW Blog Related Posts
— Initial AI documentation.
SW Button
— Link Colors label/tooltip standard (with shared rollout).
— Button Size in repeater; spacing / inline style behavior.
— Video background: overlay, base color, playback toggles in Style tab pattern.
SW Cards
— Shipped 2026.05.14.09.47: Media section background and Media section padding under Style → Cards Layout → Icon Settings (defaults keep existing pages visually unchanged); per-card Override media section background; optional decorative band when No Icon and opacity is raised.
— Shipped 2026.05.09.10.59: Sample card icon images ship with descriptive alt text by default (previously empty), and the module falls back to “Card image” if a saved card has no alt set—small SEO/accessibility win for the SW module documentation page and any pages still on default sample content.
— Per-card Override card background and rich text; default module spacing for new instances; Link Colors label set; cross-links to SW Cards Products.
— Upgrading within March 2026: between 2026.03.04.16.41 and releases through 2026.03.24.16.17, no broad field-structure milestone is expected unless release notes call out repeater or path changes—still spot-check card instances on live pages after you update.
— Slider clipping troubleshooting (cards per row at tablet/mobile).
— Per-card icon width/height.
— Older themes (before 2026.01.28): upgrading across this date can change repeater and field paths—re-open SW Cards in the editor and confirm content, icons, and links after you update the module.
SW Cards Products
New module : product-style cards, feature list repeater, optional dual price + visitor toggle, sw_feature_list macro dependency.
— Content Colors scoped to card body only; removed module-wrapper content area text/link fields from section wrapper.
— Pricing layout, Price Field Toggle, per-card buttons, label/help text passes, gutter and corner options, showcase row behavior, macro integration.
Several iterations shipped the same week; this page lists the highlights. Ask Smithworks for the full dated sequence if you need it.
SW CTA Popup
— Link Colors standard.
— Purpose vs SW Popup Panel documented; not deprecated.
SW CTA Simple Bar
— Shipped 2026.05.12.19.15: new CTA bars now start with a subtle Module Inner border by default: solid, 1px, #eeeeee at 100%, with a 3px radius. Turn Override Module Inner Border off when you do not want the module to emit its own inner border or corner radius.
— Border rendering cleanup: outer and inner borders use explicit width, style, and color output for more consistent opacity behavior in the HubSpot editor and on published pages.
— Shipped 2026.05.12.18.34: Module Inner now owns the full inner-layer border and radius, with Override Module Inner Border for theme defaults vs custom settings. Module Outer Border Position lets editors choose top only, bottom only, or both outer edges.
— Upgrade note: after updating from an older pre-May 12 copy, re-open important CTA bars and confirm inner border/radius and outer border position settings.
— Shipped 2026.05.11.17.10: Style → Module background now gives both the outer band and the inner layer matching top and bottom border controls—choose a Border Style, then set the weight and color. The outer and inner background-option dropdowns also use simpler labels like Theme Color, Custom Color, Gradient, Image, and Video. Existing pages keep no extra border until you turn one on.
— Shipped 2026.05.07.17.28: When the bar stacks on phones and tablets, the icon column centers above the message row for a balanced strip; on large screens the icon stays aligned to the start of its narrow column beside copy and buttons—no settings change required.
— Shipped 2026.05.07.15.15: in-page CTA band (optional icon, Content Area, Buttons repeater); Module Settings and Module background with Module Outer layered behind the inner bar (options beyond section-only styling—transparent outer image over section color, stacked backgrounds for depth). This shipped with the May 2026 documentation refresh; see SW AI Documentation and marketer FAQs.
SW FAQs Simple
— Shipped 2026.05.12.18.34: new FAQ module for visible FAQ sections with optional FAQPage schema. Editors can add questions directly in the module or pull reusable rows from HubDB by page path or group key. The FAQ panel uses the standard Module Outer / Module Inner controls for backgrounds, borders, radius, spacing, and optional background video.
— New/default instances use a light blue inner panel treatment (#45a1d7 at low opacity) with a subtle border, and the editor labels clarify when schema is output and how HubDB page paths should be formatted.
— Upgrade note: if a page used an early FAQ copy from before this shipped version, re-open the module and confirm FAQ content, HubDB matching, and panel background/border settings. Background and border styling now lives under Module Inner.
SW Feature List
— Shipped 2026.05.12.22.58: optional Mobile scroll once (Off, one-time horizontal peek, or one-time full scroll across plan columns) plus optional Mobile scroll edge fade (right-edge gradient when the table overflows on small screens). Controls sit at the bottom of the Style tab after Headings accent line. The old combined scroll-hint dropdown and the under-table text hint line are removed; existing pages keep behavior via legacy saved values until you re-open and save the module. Motion respects reduced motion, skips after the visitor scrolls, and remembers one play per module instance in the browser session.
— Shipped 2026.04.01.15.44: optional Table Box Settings wrap the comparison table (spacing, corner radius, border, background). On phones and narrow layouts, the table can scroll sideways; category headings and the feature label column stay fixed like the first column. When Comparison Table Colors uses transparent backgrounds for the corner, category row, or label column, the module can reuse a solid table box color if you set the box to Theme Color or Custom Color—if the box is transparent, a gradient, or an image, pick matching theme or custom fills for those table regions so labels stay clean over scrolling cells. Preview on a small screen after styling. Headings accent line width is now in pixels; after upgrading, you may need to adjust the line width if it looks different.
— Accent line width: if your site had an older copy of the module, the line width field was migrated to pixels—open Style → Headings accent line and re-check the width if the rule looks too short or too long.
— Shipped 2026.04.01.14.05: Override plan title fonts (and matching toggles for subtitle, plan cells, category headings, and feature row labels) default to off so typography follows your theme body text until you turn an override on—then the full font row appears. Override plan cell fonts gates plan-cell color and size the same way. New Row Spacing adds matching top and bottom padding on every table row. Under Comparison Table Colors, row-border lines under the plan title row (titles and subtitles), between body rows, and on the last row draw reliably when you set a weight above zero; zero thickness or zero opacity means no line.
— Shipped 2026.04.01.11.58: under Style → Comparison Table Text, Font colors sets the default text color for plan titles, subtitles, and the first-column labels (theme body text or one custom color). Each of those rows can use Override color so the font picker color applies instead. Plan Cell Color still controls checkmarks, icons, and text inside plan cells only. Optional Headings accent line and richer Headings defaults; table label colors stay visible on themes that style header cells aggressively.
— Shipped 2026.03.31.23.26: comparison-style table with Comparison Table Colors for region backgrounds, optional row borders, stacked Button(s) in cells, feature label indent, and tighter table spacing. Module Settings spacing defaults apply to new instances only.
— Upgrading from an older theme copy: if the version shown in your module is before 2026.03.31.20.56, comparison colors and some Style fields were reorganized—open each instance in the editor, confirm colors and rows, and check any buttons in plan cells after you update.
SW Form
— Shipped 2026.04.02.10.29: optional Resubmit cooldown (browser localStorage) after inline thank you; works when the form uses Show thank you message — not when the form redirects after submit. Per-module-instance keys, wait-message typography (Content style), MutationObserver for HubSpot v4 thank-you markup.
— Removed horizontal padding from .sw-form__inner so headings and HubSpot form use full column width; spacing from Form Box Padding / Module Settings.
— Shipped alongside Gallery Section and Simple Hero compatibility pass.
SW Gallery Section
Major release : new module (patterns aligned with Pillar Section), gallery in Style tab, thumbnails, video autoplay/mute behavior, column layout, glow, arrows, combined corner radius, and many layout fixes.
— Link and color handling fixes; Style tab field order aligned to Smithworks standards.
SW Image & Text
— Module header notes soft deprecation: existing pages stay as-is; for new stacked image/text bands, prefer SW Text and Media. Version aligned with master 2026.04.06.10.34.
— Content image border radius group (override + theme default radius) aligned to Blog Listing Hero pattern.
— Content Area Settings, Content Colors, collapsed Image group.
SW Text and Media
— Shipped 2026.04.29.19.43: Show video controls for foreground HubSpot Video and Video from files, and the same toggle when the module background is video—turn it off if you prefer no play/pause bar. New modules open with controls on by default.
— Shipped 2026.04.22.22.42: On the page, headings now render above the foreground image or video (then your Content Area copy). Content adds an optional Buttons repeater under the rich text—new instances start with no buttons until you add rows (same button controls you see on other Smithworks modules). Module Settings → Spacing now opens new modules with comfortable 50px / 25px / 50px / 25px padding by default; existing modules keep what they already saved. Headings on brand-new modules may open with one sample row you can edit or remove.
— Update 2026.04.06.12.16: YouTube/Vimeo embeds in the foreground and in the module background video now follow your Autoplay and Muted settings. Resizing the external embed in the editor (width and height) limits how wide/tall the player appears on the page; foreground embeds also follow your Image alignment settings. In Image mode, the image field’s width helps cap how large the photo displays (still responsive on small screens).
— New module 2026.04.06.10.34: stacked layout like SW Image & Text, plus foreground video (HubSpot, file, or embed), Media mode (image / video / none), optional headings repeater, and Media Border styling on the foreground frame. AI documentation and SW Module FAQs explain when to use this instead of Image & Text.
SW Magic Accordion
— Shipped 2026.05.09.10.59: Sample background images on the default panel ship with descriptive alt text by default (previously empty)—small SEO/accessibility win for any pages still on default sample content.
— Shipped 2026.03.31.22.40: tabs and accordion together, pillar-style image layout, Display settings in the Style tab, Content Colors, and Buttons only via repeaters (including optional actions below the module). Top-tab scrolling and in-editor help text aligned to Smithworks label standards. Module documentation on this site and SW Module FAQs updated for the new structure.
— Upgrading from an older theme copy: several groups moved (display settings, content colors, image grid, buttons). Open each page in the editor, confirm buttons, media, and forms, and republish important pages if anything looks wrong.
SW Pillar Accordion
— Shipped 2026.03.30.12.18: Legacy single “Button 1 / Button 2” fields removed at module level and per panel—use the Buttons repeaters only (cta_button_items, accordion_button_items). Accordion titles use proper <button> elements and ARIA attributes for accessibility; styling adjusted for empty panels.
— If your copy is older than 2026.03.30.12.18: this is a structural upgrade—re-open affected pages, move CTA content into the new Buttons repeaters where needed, and verify accordions and forms on live pages.
— Shipped 2026.05.12.19.51: When Override Module Inner Border is off, the module no longer draws a thin line around the inner content layer. Turn that override on when you want a visible inner border, then set style, weight, and color. Corner rounding on the inner layer still follows your theme unless you override it. Republish after your site receives this update if cached pages still show the old line.
— Shipped 2026.05.12.18.34: Module Inner now owns the full inner-layer border and radius, with Override Module Inner Border for theme defaults vs custom settings. Module Outer Border Position lets editors choose top only, bottom only, or both outer edges.
— Upgrade note: after updating from an older pre-May 12 copy, re-open important Pillar sections and confirm inner border/radius and outer border position settings.
— Shipped 2026.05.11.15.23: Style → Module background now gives both the outer band and the inner pillar layer matching top and bottom border controls—choose Border Style, then set the weight and color. The outer background choices were also cleaned up so the dropdown reads with simpler labels like Theme Color and Custom Color. Existing pages keep no border until you turn one on.
— Shipped 2026.05.07.17.28: Style tab reorganized:Module Outer background controls moved into Module background (with clearer inner vs outer labels), and spacing/max-width fields for the outer band sit under Module Settings. After your developer ships this version, re-check Module Outer if you relied on an outer image or divider—saved inner pillar content is unchanged; outer-only choices may reset per the upgrade notes from Smithworks.
— Shipped 2026.05.07.17.28: Optional List Setting to set a fixed width for bullet markers (custom icons or images) when you want tighter alignment than the default—turn the override on and adjust pixels in the slider.
— Shipped 2026.05.06.22.12: On the Content tab, each text column (Primary Column and Secondary Column when it is set to Content) now has Bullets placement—choose whether the bullet list sits above or below the main Content Area paragraph. Headings stay above both. Existing pages keep the default (bullets above) until you change the setting.
— Shipped 2026.05.06.11.02: List Settings adds Disable text balancing (default on). When your bullet or numbered list uses a heading size, list lines now use normal full-width wrapping instead of short balanced lines—turn the toggle off if you prefer the previous balanced look. No need to re-enter content; publish when your developer ships the update.
— Media and image columns use smarter responsive sizes on phones and tablets as part of the spring performance pass. Publish when your developer updates the theme.
— Shipped 2026.04.16.18.24: Style gains Module Outer (above Module Settings)—an optional extra band behind the pillar (full-width color, theme gradient with multiple stops, custom color, image, or a built-in diagonal divider). Choose how wide that outer band is; you can still use Max Module Width so the two-column pillar stays narrower while the outer treatment spans the row. Does not replace HubSpot section backgrounds—use a section when several modules share one wrapper; use Module Outer when this instance needs its own outer visual layer. Existing pages keep working until you turn options on.
— Shipped 2026.04.02.11.34: optional Resubmit cooldown when Secondary Column = Form — browser localStorage with a Pillar-only key prefix (not SW Form); Show thank you message only (not redirect). Per-instance cooldown default on; MutationObserver for HubSpot v4 thank-you markup.
— Image-as-background column: background image now fills the full row height on medium and large breakpoints.
— Included in Link Colors dropdown label rollout (17 modules).
— Version bump and documentation sync; see the module’s in-theme changelog for full detail.
— Header comment pattern cleaned (redundant version note line removed).
— Stability from 2026.03.06.21.29 onward: normal upgrades from early March 2026 to later March 2026 should not introduce a new structural field milestone for this module—still re-check live pages if content appears missing after an update.
— List icon vertical alignment for multi-line bullets.
SW Popup Panel
— Link Colors standard.
— Menu font-size CSS fix (same release window as SW Header Simple).
Earlier releases used the name SW Interactive Quiz; current docs and labels use SW Quiz Simple.
— Text above form visibility, heading alignment, intro alignment.
— Phases: quiz flow, scoring, form embed / Forms API, tracking events, layout, content colors, field moves.
SW Section Divider
— New module 2026.04.07.19.59 (current master 2026.04.16.09.36): SW Section Divider adds a full-width decorative SVG band (built-in waves and angles or your own SVG) to sit between content sections. Optional overlap pulls the band toward the next or previous block so the seam looks intentional. Style includes Pattern Layer (z-index) if something on the live page covers the wave—raise it until the divider reads clearly. Default fill uses theme color and white; gradients were tuned so angled blends look correct on built-in shapes. This module does not replace heroes or pillars—it is visual chrome only. See SW Module FAQs and the AI documentation for overlap and stacking tips.
Upgrade guidance is maintained for Smithworks support teams; contact Smithworks if you are updating from a much older copy and want help checking page instances.

SW Footer Simple
— Shipped 2026.04.22.21.19: Copyright Information adds Show “Powered by Smithworks” (default on), matching SW Footer Simple 02. Custom social icons (HubSpot icon picker / Font Awesome) follow Style → Content Colors → Link Colors; when Override Colors is on, your icon colors stick instead of being replaced by the theme’s link styling. After a theme update, republish global footer if the editor preview still looks off.
— Shipped 2026.04.21.12.20: Rename from SW Simple Footer (Design Manager label + theme folder SW Footer Simple.module). CSS root .sw-footer-simple (replaces .sw-simple-footer); global partial sw-site_footer.html default module path/labels updated. Existing pages keep module data; if you forked partials or custom CSS targeting old class names, update selectors when you sync from master.
— Shipped 2026.04.16.11.32: new footer instances open with comfortable wrapper padding (50px top and bottom, 25px left and right) and a white theme-color background in Style. Existing global footers keep their saved values until you change them.
— Overview/docs: sibling modules in global footer DnD (Popup Panel, CTA Popup).
— Copyright Information group (Add Copyright Line, Add Company Name, override vs email footer).
— Back to Top, social presets, Powered by Smithworks line.
SW Footer Simple 02
— Shipped 2026.04.22.21.19: Two-band global footer (brand row with logo, menu, tagline, optional buttons; divider; lower row with copyright, simple links, social icons, optional Powered by Smithworks). Logo Positioning and Content Alignment control column width and text alignment on larger breakpoints; brand-kit favicon can fill the logo column cleanly. Custom social icons respect link colors and override colors the same way as SW Footer Simple. Some starter themes ship this module as the default footer—ask your partner which variant your site uses.
SW Header Simple
— Shipped 2026.04.29.21.17: Sticky body padding and mobile drawer height work are coalesced per animation frame, which reduces layout thrash on resize and when opening the menu. No field changes—publish when your developer updates the theme.
— Shipped 2026.04.21.12.20: Rename from SW Simple Header (Design Manager label + theme folder SW Header Simple.module). CSS root .sw-header-simple (replaces .sw-simple-header); global partial sw-site_header.html default module path/labels updated. Update custom CSS or forked partials that still target old class names when you sync from master.
— Link Colors standard.
— Menu font size CSS fix.
— Simple Link Font vs Menu Colors (hover/link colors); font cascade XL + overrides.
— Top bar linking, icon color workarounds, menu caret notes.
— Mobile menu at XL/LG/MD options.
SW Simple Hero
— Shipped 2026.05.09.10.59: Sample hero background images ship with descriptive alt text by default (previously empty), and the responsive picture/image fallback uses “Hero background photograph” when no breakpoint alt is set on a saved hero—small SEO/accessibility win for pages still on default sample content. Republish hero pages so the new fallback applies.
— Shipped 2026.05.05.20.53: when the hero uses the responsive picture/image performance path, the fallback image now uses your configured hero image alt text (XL first, then desktop/tablet/mobile fallback) instead of empty alt. If an SEO crawler still reports missing alt text, republish after your developer updates the theme and confirm each hero image field has meaningful alt text.
— Shipped 2026.04.29.21.17: Image-style heroes output a responsive picture / image layer with early hints so the main image can paint sooner; background image mode is cleared when that path is active. Cover vs contain for the LCP image still follow your style choices. Publish when your developer updates the theme.
— Hero images use smarter responsive sizes on phones and tablets as part of the spring performance pass. Publish when your developer updates the theme.
— Link Colors standard.
— Shipped with Gallery Section batch.
— CTA button sizes; video toggles.
Older instances may show legacy Style fields; current builds map those into module settings and background groups when you upgrade.

SW Testimonials
— Shipped 2026.04.28.20.37: New stacked testimonials module—repeating rows with rich-text quotes, optional Summary override for the short view, optional author image and company line, optional Read more (same button style set as other SW modules, including a text-style link). Style controls quote typography for all rows, optional dividers between quotes, standard module background and spacing. After your theme is updated, add the module from the page editor; existing pages are unchanged until you place it.
SW Text Headings
— Shipped 2026.05.09.10.59: Center and Right alignment now applies text-align to the heading itself, so when a heading wraps to two or more lines on tablet or mobile, all wrapped lines align as you chose. Previously, only short single-line headings looked centered or right-aligned; once the text wrapped, lines reverted to left. The Mobile override (Override Text Alignment (Mobile)) covers everything ≤767px—including very small phones (XS). When an override is OFF, the next-larger breakpoint cascades down. Hard-refresh published pages after your theme is updated.
— Link Colors standard.
— Video background pattern; heading repeater responsive overrides.
Theme: Main layout & performance
Theme-level updates that affect many pages or modules—themes ship these together with module updates below.
— Page templates expose a clear main landmark for accessibility tools. Several Smithworks modules load stylesheets so pages can paint sooner; on very slow connections, layout or icons may settle a split second later. You do not need to re-enter content; publish when your developer says the upgrade is live.
— Shipped 2026.04.29.20.00: Extra side padding is removed from the main drag-and-drop content shell on typical pages so module rows align with your layout grid more predictably. You do not change settings inside individual modules; publish when your developer updates the theme.
— Shipped 2026.04.29.21.17: Roboto loads from the page head, and unused connection hints are trimmed when live chat is off. Your page content does not change; publish when your developer updates the theme.
Theme: Open Graph (partial)
Included from the theme header. Adds og:type and a share image for social previews when an image can be resolved from the page, the first post on a blog listing, or the theme’s default Misc → Featured image.
— Shipped 2026.05.05.21.50: Blog listing pages can use the first post on that listing for the preview image when the listing page has no featured image. Set a default image in Theme settings → Content → Misc → Featured image for site-wide fallback. Publish the theme when your developer ships the update.
Theme: SW SEO Schema (partial)
Not a drag-and-drop module—it is included from the theme header as partial code. Outputs Organization and WebSite JSON-LD for SEO.
— Documented on AI page: email footer path, Brand Kit Logo URL, troubleshooting bad company_domain.
Theme: SW Sprocket Rocket test theme
— Layout uses Sprocket Rocket utility classes; lab-only CSS trimmed; published to the Smithworks theme tester template.
